28-year-old Lonwabo Steven Dyasi has been declared wanted by the Western Cape Province Serious and Violent Crime Detectives of the South African Police Service.

Steven Dyasi has been declared wanted for murder, according to the Police report.

The Police said the 28-year-man is a  suspect in the murders of mine people and the attempted murder of another person.

SAPS is appealing to the general public that anyone who knows the whereabouts of Lonwabo should contact the investigating officer mm

“#sapsWC Serious and Violent Crime Detectives are seeking the assistance of the public to trace 28-year-old Lonwabo Steven Dyasi, who is #WANTED for murder.”

“Lonwabo is a suspect in the murders of nine people and the attempted murder of another on 17/02, at a shebeen in the Marikana informal settlement in Philippi East. A warrant for his arrest has been issued by the court.”

“A 19-year-old suspect was arrested and has already appeared in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court on murder charges.”

“Anyone with information that can assist the investigation or who knows the whereabouts of Lonwabo is kindly requested to contact the investigating officer, Detective Constable Sibusiso Manqindi, on 072 980 2764 or #CrimeStop on 08600 10111.”

Meanwhile, the government has adopted strategic measures to fight against crime and criminal syndicates which includes:

1. Consolidate Intelligence at the national level to identify key criminals syndicates.

2. Utilise technology, intelligence, and integrated law enforcement to deal with criminal syndicates.

3. Deploy specialised intervention teams to dismantle criminal networks.

4. Strengthen fight against gang violence and illegal mining by deploying the South African National Defence Force (SANDF).

5. Tackle gun crime by streamlining legislation and regulations on licensing, possessing and trading in firearms and ammunition and increase enforcement of existing gun laws.
