The Chief Executive Officer of the GRATIS Foundation, Dr. Isaac Adaebsah, has been appointed as a Committee Member of the Ghana Women and Youth Employment and Social Cohesion Program, in a move expected to strengthen efforts toward job creation and social cohesion across Ghana.
The appointment was announced during the official inauguration of the GWYESCO committee, an event that brought together government officials, development partners, implementing agencies, and other key stakeholders committed to advancing employment opportunities for women and young people. The ceremony underscored the importance of coordinated national action in addressing unemployment and promoting inclusive growth.
GWYESCO is a flagship intervention aimed at tackling youth unemployment, reducing social inequalities, and fostering unity through targeted skills development and empowerment initiatives. The program is also designed to support vulnerable groups by equipping them with relevant competencies needed to thrive in Ghana’s evolving economic landscape.
As one of the seven implementing partners under the program, the GRATIS Foundation is set to play a pivotal role in delivering technical and vocational training. Under its mandate, the foundation will train over 7,000 young individuals across the country in agro-processing equipment fabrication, a sector considered critical to Ghana’s industrialization and agricultural value chain development.
The training initiative will focus on providing participants with hands-on technical skills in the design, fabrication, and maintenance of agro-processing machinery. This is expected to enhance local production capacity, reduce reliance on imported equipment, and create employment opportunities within rural and peri-urban communities.
Beyond skills acquisition, the program will also expose beneficiaries to entrepreneurship development, enabling them to establish small-scale enterprises or contribute meaningfully to existing industries. The initiative is anticipated to stimulate local economies, increase productivity in the agro-processing sector, and promote sustainable livelihoods.
Dr. Adaebsah’s inclusion on the GWYESCO committee is widely regarded as strategic, given his extensive experience in industrial training and technology transfer. In his new role, he is expected to contribute to policy formulation, provide technical guidance, and support the effective coordination of program activities among implementing partners.
Stakeholders at the inauguration expressed confidence that the involvement of institutions like the GRATIS Foundation will significantly enhance the impact of the program. They noted that the integration of practical skills training with broader social interventions would help address both unemployment and social cohesion challenges simultaneously.
The GWYESCO program reflects the government’s broader commitment to empowering women and youth, promoting inclusive economic growth, and strengthening community resilience. It is also aligned with national development priorities aimed at building a skilled workforce capable of driving industrial transformation.
With the combined efforts of implementing partners and oversight from the committee, the program is expected to deliver measurable outcomes in job creation, skills development, and social integration across the country.
