The Member of Parliament for Salaga South Constituency, Hajia Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has received a consignment of equipment aimed at expanding telephone and internet services to ten underserved communities in the area.

The development follows a formal request she submitted in January 2025 to the Ministry of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, seeking support to extend telecommunications coverage to communities with limited or no access. The beneficiary areas include Kakoshi, Lamsa, Kayereso, Kpambu, Bunkpa, Chakara, Akamade, Buma, Telkpa, and Silmuchu.

Addressing a brief ceremony to acknowledge receipt of the equipment, the MP expressed her enthusiasm about the project taking off. She highlighted that for years, residents in these communities have struggled with poor connectivity, which has hindered their ability to stay connected with the rest of the country.

She underscored the importance of reliable telecommunications and internet services in fostering development, enhancing access to information, and opening up opportunities in education and economic activities.

Hon. Ibrahimah also indicated that work on the required infrastructure, including the installation of telecommunication masts, will commence without delay. She conveyed her gratitude to the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation and the Ghana Investment Fund for Electronic Communications for their collaboration and support in facilitating the initiative.

The intervention is expected to significantly reduce the digital gap and improve living conditions for residents across the beneficiary communities.
