The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry has announced that the price of sachet water will remain unchanged following the suspension of a planned price increase by producers.
In a press release dated April 6, 2026, the Ministry commended the Ghana Plastic Manufacturers Association (GPMA) and the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) for their cooperation in halting the intended adjustment, which was expected to take effect on the same day.
“The Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness & Industry wishes to commend Ghana Plastic Manufacturers Association (GPMA) and the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers (NASPAWAP) for their cooperation and suspending the planned price adjustment that was to take effect today, Monday, 6th April 2026.”
The Ministry explained that the decision reflects government’s commitment to protecting consumers and maintaining stability in the market, particularly at a time when households continue to face economic pressures.

The Ministry further assured the public that sachet water, a widely consumed commodity across the country, will continue to be sold at the current price, offering relief to consumers who depend on it for daily use.

“The Ministry, hereby, assures the public that the price of sachet water will not increase today. Consumers can continue to purchase sachet water at the current price.”
The statement further explained the importance of collaboration between government and industry players in ensuring that essential goods remain accessible and affordable.
The intervention is expected to ease concerns among consumers while reinforcing confidence in efforts to regulate pricing within the sector.
