The High Court in Accra has dismissed a GHC50m divorce settlement claim filed by the ex-wife of Ghanaian business mogul Richard Nii Armah Quaye (RNQA).

Joana Quaye, the co-founder, shareholder and director of Quick Credit Microfinance Company Limited, now Bills, filed for the divorce settlement and demanded GHC50 million.

However, Justice Kofi Dorgu, a court of Appeal Judge who presided over the case awarded Joana Quaye only GHC300, 000 in the distribution of the matrimonial properties of RNAQ and his wife.

According to a report, the Judge said he awarded Joana Quaye only GHC300,000 to discourage divorces with the expectation of reaping huge monetary benefits.

Additionally, the court granted Joana Quaye one-third of the matrimonial property of the parties at Dansoman and two vehicles.

Moreover, the business mogul Richard Nii Armah Quaye (RNQA) has been ordered to take care of the educational and health needs of their children.
