Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo Markin has opened up his relationship with the former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential hopeful, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

According to him, aside from politics, they are both related to each other.

Adding that but for the intervention of Kennedy Agyapong, his business was struggling.

He explained that the former Assin Central lawmaker came to his rescue and gave him a cheque of $5M to boost his business.

“We are relatives, my great grandpa from Nsuakyire moved to Assin to have a cocoa farm. It was until his mother died and when we went to the funeral that my auntie told me that his (Ken Agyapong) grandfather gave us the land for the cocoa farm.” He narrated.

“So he comes to Winneba, he is with them, we live together as a family. When my business ran down, Kennedy gave me a cheque of $5M, we didn’t sign an agreement. And said go and work, I have heard that you are a hardworking man, you and a businessman. That was the risk he took on me.” The Member of Parliament for Effutu constituency disclosed.

“And in Winneba we discuss matters openly with the executives.”

Highlighting some of the efforts Ken Agyapong has put in place for Winneba, the Minority Leader acknowledged that the businessman has been helpful to them in many ways.

“Kennedy has been very helpful to the people of Winneba, when in 2012 the election day we didn’t have money, he drove from Assin to Winneba junction to give us money.” He stated.

“When I won in 2012, 2013 we were in opposition, he gave Winneba 22 brand new taxes, he gave us a tractor and we sent it to the rural areas, he gave us Motors. It was not for free, it was for work and pay and I paid.”
