A group calling itself Concerned Media Practitioners has described Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana (ADUG) 15% vehicle price reduction as a scam.

The group said ADUG’s failure to provide the list of old prices and current prices doesn’t make their statement accurate.

They said the 15% reduction is politically motivated.

“We the Concerned Media Practitioners have keenly read the statement from Automobile Dealers Union of Ghana (ADUG) dated February 15, announcing 15% vehicle price reduction. We therefore appreciate  the said price reduction but to our surprise the union brought an empty statement purported to scam consumers or car lovers in this country” The group said in a statement.

Adding that Automobile Dealers Union’s “statement did not treat the customers fairly for failing to list old prices and the current prices of the various vehicles and the very calculation of the said 15% to show variation of the prices.”

“Taking into consideration some popular vehicles used by many in the country such as Toyota Voxy (2010-13), Toyota Vitz (2009 – 2010 4plugd) are averagely selling at 150, 000/160, 000 and 90,000 respectively.” They said.

“When 15% of 150, 000 is calculated given it gives 127, 500gh and when 15% is also calculated on 90,000 it gives 76,500”

“To this and more we say their 15% reduction is not feasible and a calculated attempt to deserve the public with empty promises.”

“Their various explanations across the various platforms clearly demonstrate a politically motivated move by the union”

“We are not saying this with any malice but to be a good citizens not spectators and also buy into if you see something say something campaign”
