Abease Senior High School (Day Secondary) and Prang Senior High School are facing an acute water shortage, raising concerns about student security and learning. The shortage makes it difficult for school authorities to monitor students, especially the girls, contributing to rising cases of teenage pregnancies.

Headmaster Mr. Samuel Donaldson Phorha said the school depends on a single borehole shared with the community. He appealed to authorities, philanthropists, and all concerned Ghanaians to support efforts to provide more water and proper water closets for the school.

The District Chief Executive for Pru West, Hon. Agyapong Samuel, confirmed the water problem at Abease SHS. He said the NDC Government would do all it can to provide potable drinking water for the schools and the Abease community. He added that the E-Blogs water system built by his previous administration would not be left out. President John Dramani Mahama and the District Assembly would ensure the schools’ water issues are fixed soon.

Obrempong Kru Takyi II, Paramount Chief of the Abease Traditional Area, also called on the government to address the water crisis. He said water is essential for survival and urged quick action, especially as Abease SHS plans to convert into a boarding school.

The water shortage continues to affect students’ learning and safety, particularly the girls, as monitoring them becomes difficult. Authorities and stakeholders are being urged to intervene urgently.
