New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant Kennedy Agyapong has clarified the  controversy surrounding the signing of the party’s peace pact ahead of the January 31 presidential primary.

According to the Former Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP), his fellow aspirants signed the document without reading it thoroughly. Adding that Abetifi MP and co-aspirant Dr Bryan Acheampong signed at his place because he didn’t read it well.

This, according to him, are some of the reasons why they fail in governance when power is given to them.

“When they brought the document, they didn’t read it. For me, Hon. Dr. Bryan Acheampong signed at the place where I was supposed to sign because he didn’t read it. I am a PhD holder? Three PhD holders, that is how they sell Ghana, they just sign the document without reading it.” Ken Agyapong told NPP delegates in the Assin North constituency of the Central Region on Friday, January 23.

“Me, Assin Dompim, my Degree is qualified by experience so when I got the document, I started to read it and point two on the document  instructed us to sign and agree that, however the election goes, whether you’ve been cheated or not, you should accept it. That’s where I questioned the document because of my past experience.” The former lawmaker stated.

Recounting what happened in the 2023 NPP Primaries, Ken lamented that “The last time someone was given 100%, and I got 92. In Nchumuru, I got 104, but I was given 14. In Bunkpurugu, I was given zero, although two people testified that they voted for me. Despite all these you have given me a document to sign. I said I won’t sign. If you don’t correct some things that went wrong, I won’t sign but those who have the qualifications signed the document”

“That is why they go to the world bank and drink tea and sign their death warrant”
