Processors in the cashew and oil palm sector in Bono East Region have been urged to apply for the Ghana Private Sector Competitiveness Program (GPSCP) to enhance their productivity, improve product quality, and expand market access.
The call was made during an intensive workshop for processors, farmers, and other stakeholders held at Encom Hotel in Techiman.
Madam Agartha Asare, Finance and Grant Officer for GPSCP, explained that the program is designed to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth by strengthening trade and competitiveness within the cashew and oil palm value chains.
According to Madam Asare, the cashew and oil palm sectors continue to face significant challenges including limited technical capacity, outdated processing methods, inconsistent supply, and restricted access to both local and international markets.
She explained that the GPSCP offers a comprehensive solution to these issues, providing technical support, business advisory services, and access to grant funding to empower operators across the value chain.
“The program will equip processors with modern processing techniques, quality control measures, and market linkages that can transform their businesses
“It is an opportunity to not only increase production efficiency but also create sustainable livelihoods and generate economic growth in our communities.” She stated.
Madam Asare encouraged participants to apply for the program without delay, noting that early participation would allow them to benefit from training, mentorship, and networking opportunities designed to strengthen their operations and expand their reach.
Some participants lauded the initiative, highlighting that the workshop had opened their eyes to better processing practices and innovative approaches to marketing.
One processor noted, “With the knowledge and support from GPSCP, we can now improve the quality of our palm oil and cashew products and compete effectively in both local and international markets.”
The workshop concluded with a commitment from participants to actively engage with the program, signaling a renewed hope for growth and sustainability in the cashew and oil palm sectors in Bono East.
