The Paramount Chief of Dormaa Traditional area, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyemang Badu II has appealed to President John Dramani Mahama to intervene in a recent attack on his subjects by Burkinabes.
The Court of Appeal Justice explained that people from Dormaa passed through Paga to sell eggs, which is their main business but the Burkinabes attacked them and seized their eggs.
He said they lost a sum of over Ten million Ghana cedis.
He made this appeal when President Mahama called on him during his Resetting Ghana Tour on Tuesday, March 18, 2026.
According to him, the people of Dormaa mainly depend on egg production and so if the President does not intervene his subjects will die in hunger.
“Mr. President, eggs are the main source of income, if we don’t trade with my people, I will go hungry. Many of them survived through the eggs.” He said.
“Your Excellency, an unusual incident has occurred in our eggs trading business. We are trading with Burkinabes. The last time we passed through Paga to sell eggs in Burkina, all of a sudden, they had seized all the eggs and destroyed them.” Dormaahene explained.
“We have lost a huge amount of money. I tried to reach you but you were out of the town, so now that you are here, we are pleading with you to take the matter seriously and conduct investigations for us.” He appealed to the President.
This is the second time Ghana has experienced such an incident from their neighbouring country.
In response, the President said he has received the report and promised to speed up to address the issue.
