The Ghana Education Service (GES) has confirmed that the 2025/2026 academic calendar for Senior High Schools and Senior High Technical Schools remains unchanged, while announcing structured off-campus learning arrangements for students in transition schools.
In a statement dated January 2, 2026, and issued by the Public Relations Unit at the GES headquarters in Accra, management said the calendar, which was released at the beginning of the academic year, will be implemented as scheduled across all SHS and SHTS nationwide.
For single-track schools, Forms 1 and 2 will be in school from January 5 to February 27, 2026, followed by a break until May 3, with the final term running from May 4 to August 21, 2026. Form 3 students will report from January 5 to February 27, go on break from February 28 to March 13, and resume from March 14 to June 21, 2026, marking the end of the school year.


GES also outlined specific arrangements for transitional schools to ensure continuity in teaching and learning. Under the plan, some students will undertake online and off-campus learning during designated periods, supported by approved textbooks, projects, assignments, and curriculum resources freely accessible on the national curriculum portal.
Management announced that lessons will also be broadcast daily on the Ministry of Education Television (MoE TV) on Multi TV, while schools with functional Learning Management Systems have been urged to fully operationalize them during off-campus periods, with support from GES.
The Service stressed that online and off-campus learning periods are not vacations or breaks but form a mandatory part of teaching and learning under the academic calendar.
GES further urged heads of schools, teachers, parents, and guardians to take note of the arrangements and support students to fully participate in all online and off-campus learning activities to ensure no learner is left behind.
