Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Health have directed all Regional Health Directorates and the facilities to implement comprehensive security measures and patient-care protocols.

This, according to Ghana Health Service, will safeguard all patients, especially the most vulnerable ones.

The directive follows a report of a missing baby at the Mamprobi Hospital.

In a statement signed by the Director-General of GHS, Samuel Kaba Akoriyea said the security measures include maintenance and upgrade of CCTV systems, Intensified staff training, a mandatory discharge verification system, dedicated post-natal ward presence and enhancing staff identification system.

Meanwhile, the missing baby has been found.

DIRECTIVES ON SECURITY AND ENHANCED PATIENT CARE PROTOCOLS POST-MISSING BABY INCIDENT AT MAMPROBI HOSPITAL

Following the disturbing incident of the reported missing baby at the Mamprobi Hospital and the subsequent statement issued by the Ministry of Health, all Regional Health Directorates and facilities are hereby directed to implement, and strengthen, where necessary, immediate, comprehensive security and patient-care protocols to safeguard all patients, especially the most vulnerable.

These measures include:

• Enhanced staff identification systems (wearing of uniforms and name tags at all times within
the facility)
• Dedicated post-natal ward presence
• A mandatory discharge verification system
• CCTV system upgrade and maintenance
• Intensified staff training

These measures, when effectively implemented, would ensure delivery of the highest standard of care and prevent the occurrence of such unfortunate incidents in the future.
