French forward Kylian Mbappé is facing growing concerns over a knee injury that could potentially affect his fitness ahead of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Medical assessments by Real Madrid initially described the injury as a knee sprain. However, emerging reports indicate that the condition may be more delicate than first believed, with concerns that the posterior cruciate ligament could be under significant strain.

According to reports close to the player’s camp, the ligament is said to be close to its limit, raising fears that any attempt to rush his recovery could aggravate the injury.

Mbappé is therefore expected to undergo a careful rehabilitation process, with sources suggesting he may require the full recovery period of about 100 days to regain full fitness.

The situation has reportedly created anxiety within both Real Madrid and the French national team setup as they monitor the progress of the 25-year-old attacker.

Mbappé has been one of the key figures for both club and country in recent years, and his absence from competitive matches has already forced Real Madrid to adjust their attacking options.

Medical experts have reportedly advised caution, stressing that pushing the player back into action too early could worsen the injury and potentially threaten his availability for the World Cup.

For now, the priority remains ensuring that Mbappé completes his rehabilitation safely and returns to action only when he is fully fit.

The French international is widely regarded as one of the most influential players in world football and remains a central figure for the France national football team as they prepare for the global tournament.
