The Chief of Mesidan and Governing Board Member of the Ghana Trade Fair Company Limited, Nana Kwasi Twi Brempong II, has called on the people of Mesidan to come out in their numbers for the climax of the 2026 Appor Festival on Friday, March 27, 2026.

Addressing residents during activities leading to the festival, Nana Kwasi Twi Brempong II expressed satisfaction with the level of participation witnessed so far, describing it as a strong indication of the people’s commitment to preserving their culture.

“I am very pleased with the way and manner in which the people of Mesidan have embraced and participated in this year’s Appor Festival. Their participation has proven that they truly value our culture and are determined to preserve it for future generations.”

He explained that the Appor Festival serves as an important platform for citizens of Techiman to voice concerns about issues affecting development, while also recognizing individuals who are contributing positively to the growth of the area.

“The festival provides the opportunity for us, the citizens of Techiman, to express our grievances to chiefs, elders, leaders and individuals whose actions or inactions undermine development, while also commending those who are making meaningful contributions.”

Nana Kwasi Twi Brempong II further indicated that activities observed reflected the true essence of the festival, with indigenes and residents using music as a tool for social accountability.

“What you witnessed here today were indigenes and residents of Techiman using songs to constructively criticize leaders within the community, while at the same time commending those who deserve recognition.”

Touching on the significance of the climax, he highlighted the special role of the people of Mesidan and the Mesidan Traditional Council in the celebrations.

He explained that tradition requires the people of Mesidan to lead the Paramount Chief of Techiman, Oseadeeyo Akumfi Ameyaw IV, in a procession marked by drumming and singing from the palace through the principal streets of Techiman as part of the festival.

Nana Kwasi Twi Brempong II therefore urged residents to actively participate in the final event to ensure a successful celebration.

“I appeal to the people of Mesidan to once again come out in their numbers on Friday to help make the climax of the 2026 Appor Festival a success and a memorable one,” he appealed.

The Appor Festival remains one of the most significant cultural events in Techiman, promoting accountability, unity and the preservation of tradition among the people.
