The Media Coordinator for the Methodist Church of Ghana, Wenchi Diocese, Rev. Amponsah Boateng, has called on the public to use social media responsibly, describing digital platforms as powerful tools for evangelism and national development when properly managed.

He made the call while addressing the media at the 2026 Wenchi Diocesan Camp Meeting held at the Techiman Methodist School Park, under the theme “Walking in the Word, Equipped for Every Good Work.”

According to Rev. Amponsah Boateng, the church has embraced modern communication trends by integrating social media platforms such as Facebook, X, TikTok and others into its ministry to advance the work of evangelism.

“Social media has come to stay, and as a church, we have integrated platforms such as Facebook, X, TikTok and others into our ministry. When used properly, these platforms help to spread the word of God across the globe.”

He explained that the Methodist Church primarily uses its social media platforms to share the Gospel, sermons and inspirational messages that promote spiritual growth and positive living.

“We use our social media platforms mainly for evangelism, and in that regard, I can say that social media is a good thing. However, some people abuse its use.”

He therefore urged social media users, especially the youth, to exercise moderation and responsibility in their online activities, encouraging them to use their platforms to promote messages that foster development, growth and unity rather than negativity.

Rev. Amponsah Boateng emphasized that responsible use of social media aligns with Christian values and can contribute significantly to moral discipline and social transformation in society.

“I therefore urge all and sundry to be moderate in how they use their various social media platforms and to employ them to promote issues that bring development and growth to others, rather than using social media negatively.”
