Brazil forward Neymar da Silva Santos Júnior, has expressed disappointment after being left out of the national team squad for the upcoming international break, but insists his focus remains firmly on earning a place in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

The 32-year-old attacker was omitted from the latest squad announced by Brazil head coach Carlo Ancelotti for friendly matches against France and Croatia later this month.

Reacting to the decision, Neymar admitted he was unhappy about the situation but remains determined to fight for a return to the team.

“I’m going to talk about it, because I can’t just let it slide. Of course, I’m upset and sad about not being called up,” he said.

Despite the setback, the former FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain star emphasised his commitment to working hard and staying focused on his ultimate goal.

“But the focus remains day after day, training after training, game after game. We’re going to achieve our goal,” he added.

Neymar further expressed hope that he still has a chance to secure a place in Brazil’s final squad for the Mundial.

“There’s still one final call-up left for the World Cup, and my dream lives on. We’re in this together,” he stated.

Reports indicate that his omission is largely due to ongoing fitness concerns following a lengthy injury layoff, with the technical team opting to give him more time to fully recover before reintegration into the squad.

Brazil is currently preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, with the friendly matches expected to serve as key assessment opportunities for players ahead of the final squad selection.

Neymar’s absence has opened the door for emerging talents, as the coaching staff continues to evaluate options to build a competitive team for the global tournament.

The development comes at a crucial time for the experienced forward, whose future with the national team now hinges on his form and fitness in the coming months.
