The Head Pastor of the Techiman Trinity Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rev. Augustine Agyapong Bae, has called on Christians to live transformed lives and take responsibility for protecting the environment as they mark the Easter celebrations.
He made the call in an interview with our reporter during the Easter Sunday celebrations at the church’s premises in Techiman.
Rev. Agyapong Bae explained that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ represents a new beginning for believers, urging them to turn away from sin and live as new creations.
He stressed that Christian living must reflect not only moral uprightness but also care for the environment, describing environmental destruction as inconsistent with the teachings of Christ.
“We must live as Jesus Christ lived. We must not return to our sinful nature because the Bible says that anyone who comes to Christ has become a new creation. Therefore, as a new creation, we must live as a transformed people.
”We need to love ourselves, turn away from sin, and care for the environment. The environment we are destroying today does not reflect our Lord, Jesus Christ, as He has resurrected, Jesus is calling us to live lives that reflect His example and to love one another.” He stated.
Rev. Augustine Agyapong Bae further urged Christians to emulate the sacrificial life of Christ by showing love and support to others, noting that Christ’s victory over death should eliminate fear among believers.
“He died for our sins, therefore we must also be willing to sacrifice for others, because Jesus has conquered death. Because of this, we should no longer live in fear. We are in Christ, and if we are in Christ, we are made new,” he added.
He also called for peace and unity at all levels of society, encouraging individuals to promote harmony in their homes, communities, and the nation.
“This is a message for the whole world, that we must promote peace in every way in our homes, in our communities, in our nation, and in the world at large.” He said.
