The Member of Parliament for the Salaga South Constituency, Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah, has extended relief support to five communities in the constituency that were severely affected by a destructive rainstorm on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
The rainstorm, which was accompanied by strong winds, caused extensive damage across several parts of the constituency, ripping off the roofs of many houses and destroying valuable household items and properties belonging to residents.
Communities affected by the disaster include Salaga, Kpembe, Sisipe, Nkwanta, and Water Works. Several families in these communities were left stranded after their homes were partially or completely damaged by the storm.
In response to the situation, the MP donated 11 packets of roofing sheets, bags of rice, cooking oil, plastic buckets, and an undisclosed amount of cash to the affected victims. The support is aimed at helping the families begin repair works on their damaged houses while also providing them with some relief as they recover from the incident.
The items were presented on behalf of the MP by the Salaga South Constituency Chairman, Haruna Abdul Aziz, together with officials from the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), led by the Municipal Director, Tahiru Jawula Misbawu.
During the presentation, the team assured the victims that the MP remains committed to the welfare of her constituents and will continue to support them, especially in times of difficulty and disaster.
The affected residents expressed their heartfelt appreciation to Hon. Zuwera Mohammed Ibrahimah for the timely intervention. They described the gesture as thoughtful and compassionate, noting that the assistance would go a long way in helping them rebuild their homes and restore their livelihoods after the destruction caused by the storm.
Prior to the donation, the MP had directed the Constituency Chairman and officials from the National Disaster Management Organization to visit the affected communities on Wednesday, March 11, 2026. The visit was intended to assess the extent of the damage, interact with the affected families, and convey the MP’s sympathy and solidarity with the victims during their difficult moment.
