The Techiman Kentenhene and Dabehene of the Techiman Traditional Council has commended the Paramount Chief of Techiman, Oseadeyor Akumfi Ameyaw IV, for the successful organization of the 2026 Appor Festival climax held on March 27, 2026.
He made the remarks in an exclusive interview with our reporter during the climax of the festival, which saw thousands of people, including chiefs and residents, storm the streets of Techiman to participate in the colorful cultural display.

According to him, the massive turnout and active participation clearly demonstrate that the people of Techiman have long missed the Appor Festival, which is one of the key cultural events in the traditional area.
On behalf of the Techiman Traditional Council, he expressed gratitude to residents, indigenes, and visitors for coming out in their numbers to support and celebrate the festival, describing the turnout as encouraging and significant for the preservation of the area’s cultural heritage.

He noted that the Appor Festival had not been celebrated for six years due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other circumstances beyond their control, which interrupted the continuity of the event.
However, he explained that the overwhelming response to this year’s celebration shows strong community interest and suggests that future editions of the festival will attract even greater participation.

The festival is expected to continue today, March 28, and Sunday, March 29, with the Fetish Priest Dance forming part of the remaining activities lined up for the celebrations.
