Three suspects have been arrested by the Akosombo Divisional Command for possession of fake U.S dollars.
Police in a statement signed by the Public Affairs Unit of the Eastern Region, Chief Inspector Bridget Opoku said the suspects Ebenezer Narh-Tsu, George Attor and Bishop Robert Olertey were arrested through an intelligence-led operation.
“The Akosombo Divisional Command on 11th March, 2026 arrested three (3) suspects for the possession of 105 bundles of forged U.S Dollars in $100 notes kept in a student’s trunk at Larsi, Odumasi-Krobo in the Eastern Region.” The Police announced.
The statement said the suspects Ebenezer Narh-Tsu aged 20, George Attor aged 48, and Bishop Robert Olertey 54 were arrested through an intelligence-led operation by the Odumasi-Krobo District Police at their hideout at Larsi.
According to the Police, “One suspect Bishop Robert Olertey is alleged to have offered a bribe of Twenty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHc20, 000.00) to the arresting officers who rejected his offer and went on to arrest and hand them over to the Akosombo Divisional CID for investigations
In Friday 13th March 2926, suspect Ebenezer Narh-Tsu was arraigned before the Odumasi-Krobo Circuit Court on the motion of Notice of detention but was granted bail in the sum of GHC100, 000.00 with two(2) sureties to report to the Police every Monday for two weeks to assist in investigations
The other two (2) suspects have also been granted Police Enquiry bail while investigation continues.
The public has been advised to be vigilant against counterfeit currencies.
“The Eastern Regional Police Command wishes to entreat all persons to be vigilant against counterfeit currencies to avoid financial loss.”
